Attorney Michael E. Melton is a prime example of a true success story. Against all odds from poverty working as a part time janitor, he progressed as an Electrical Engineer, Entrepreneur, Author, Inspirational Speaker and Philanthropist whose work has been recognized by many esteemed organizations.

Attorney Melton excelled in Corporate America holding Executive Positions with Fortune 500 companies in the US and abroad.

Attorney Melton has over 30 years experience in the field of intellectual property law (Litigation and Licensing) and the Management of Corporate Intellectual Property Law Departments. He is currently a partner with Norris & Melton, P.L.L.C, and its intellectual property management, consulting and licensing arm IP Counsel Consultants.


In addition to his legal practice, Melton is also the Founder, President and CEO of MEM Enterprises. MEM, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, owns and manages a portfolio of Taco Bell and Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurants. The company continues to develop a commanding presence in the Franchise Industry.

He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a J.D. from the University of Missouri and is a Life Member of the University’s Alumni Association.  Michael is admitted to the bar in multiple states, The United States Supreme Court Bar, and is a Registered and Accomplished International Patent Attorney.

In prior positions he was Vice President and Director of intellectual property licensing for Motorola Inc, Deputy General Counsel for Intellectual Property for Pitney Bowes, Director and Chief Patent Counsel for MCI Communications Corporation, and European Legal Counsel for Texas Instruments Inc. (residing in Nice, France for three years).

He is a Published Author and Frequent Lecturer on topics pertaining to intellectual property law. He was also featured on FOX News National “Beyond The Dreams Segment”.
